I'm looking for recommendations for a CAD application that I can use to draw
up some floor plans. Any ideas appreciated.

OK I glanced at some of those and some others I found. Grabbed CadStd Lite
and will give it a test run. Does anyone have enough experience to give a
yea or nay on some of the other CAD applications out there?

Cousin NMMNG ....

Along with CadStd you might also check out
QCAD and TurboCAD LE from that same list ....

http://www.freecad.com/cgi-bin/dcd/h...neral_Purpose/

QCAD is somewhat similar to CadStd Lite,
but is also available for platforms
other than Windows ....

TurboCAD LE is about a 15 MB download,
but a very nice program and bit more
loaded funtion-wise than the other two
mentioned here ....

A year or two ago a CAD prog that was a professional version in the 1990s
was released to the public as a freebee. It was called Cadvance, Should come
up in a search. Good program but the file naming is a bit dated - limited
to 8.3, if I remember correctly.

Have fun!

I found it here http://www.cadvance.com/downloads2.htm. It doesn't mention
anything about running under my OS, Windows XP, so I'm a little hesitant to
install in. Don't need my system hosed today, thank you. But I guess I
could just set a restore point and jump in the deep end

Anyone have any insight into this dilemma?

Correction, it states on the next page:

"This is a re-release of CADVANCE Version 6.5, a CAD software system
designed for Windows 3.1, but yet also runs on Windows 95/98, NT,
Windows2000, WindowsXP Home, and WindowsXP Pro."

I'll give it a try.

They say it does:

"This is a re-release of CADVANCE Version 6.5, a CAD software system
designed for Windows 3.1, but yet also runs on Windows 95/98, NT,
Windows2000, WindowsXP Home, and WindowsXP Pro. Originally released in 1995
at a suggested retail price of $1950, it is now available to anyone free of
charge for the software. This is not a demo, but a full working version."
