Cached Headers: Need to Disable

hoping someone can help. i'm using imap for my mail in outlook 2003.
problem is, i have a ton of email on one account, whenever i go to the
mail folder, it starts updating the cached headers of all my emails. i
have thousands so it's frustrating to experience this caching every
time. i've read through the knowledge base but can't find anything on
how to disable this feature. please help. thanks.
