Cache Access Denied

I don't usually use IE6 as my default browser, but still need it for
windowsupdates. Anyway, I tried to access the updates site last week and got
a "Cache Access Denied" error message on the IE6 screen. After this IE is
basically stopped dead in its tracks and will not load any page on the web.

I haven't changed anything on my PC for quite a while (s/w or h/w), so its a
little puzzling. I have tried changing the cache size and clearing its
contents etc. but haven't been able to fix the problem. Has anyone seen this
before? Thanks
