Nothing your computer does will affect your cable modem
like that.
The symptoms you describe are typical of either:
a) A bad cable line from your cable modem to the cable
box on the house.
b) A malfunctioning cable modem
c) A malfunctioning power supply that's hooked to your
cable modem
d) Poor signal levels or other trouble on your cable
company's end
It's nothing to do with your computer or connection to
the hub. You may be better off reading the forums at
http://www.dslreports.com and/or continuing to work with
your cable company.
