C00D11DB Error

hi,

I am trying to sync up my recorded tv in dvr-ms format from microsoft media
center to my creative zen vision:m player.

I get the following two error messages:
First:
Windows Media Player cannot synchronize or burn the protected file because
the Player cannot verify that the license is valid. A problem occured while
contacting the Internet to determine the current date and time.

Second:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another
computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path,
verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be
available.

I assume that the first one is causing the second, so i'd really like to
solve the first error message first.

So far, I have done this:

On the advice of the mirosoft solutions webpage for this error, it said to
go to tools-> options-> privacy and check the set time on devices box.

I already had this box checked.

Then I searched on google for this error code, and it said to turn of norton
and set the system clock.

i did this and I still could not fix the problem

The weird thing is that all my tv recorded shows are not protected according
to the protected column under my library listings in WMP.

I tried calling creative, but they said that this issue is not supported by
them.

Please please please help me with this.

Thank you so much,

Alex

These are notorious oblique WMP error messages,
Your actual error in your header is seemingly another
example of WMP getting itself confused. We all get
varients from time to time, yours is an example of an
error message that may not actually point to the true
cause?
Try this link to the MS knowledge base, within is
links to the WMP forum and a guide on how to trouble-
shoot.
Best of luck

Hi,
thanks for the tip.

I'm going through the troubleshooting now. But I wanted to update with new
information. Now, no videos will be synced, no matter what the format is,
dvr-ms or wmv etc. They all get the same error.

I really don't know the answer, though from the troubleshooter,
it seems to indicate anything from DRM issues/WMP corruption/
Incompatibilty etc?
Have you got your PC uptodate with ALL patches, critical updates etc?
Have you tried any other media players? Specifically media players
associated with the hardware?
Were you able to previously perform the desired tasks, and the
problem subsequently occurred? If so, have you tried system restore
to a point when all was functioning?

Try here for updating and configuring WMP:

I think that it's coming from WMP corruption. I don't think it's DRM because
the files arn't protected... althought WMP thinks it is. The hardware says
that it i compatable with wmp.

My PC is fully updated. The files will transfer manually without using WMP
so it leads me to think that it's WMP's problem. However, i like the WMP's
options and interface better than transfering it manually, so that's why i'm
trying to get it to work.

I have never gotten this to work ever, so there is nothing to roll back to
unfortunately.

If it is WMP corruption, is there a way to compteley remove it and do a
clean install?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi
Before you do any of the following read through this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...10/readme.aspx

Have you downloaded and installed Rollup-2?
This is an "optional" update:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...e/rollup2.mspx

But it's tricky......................
You first must install MS .Net Framework 1.1
and .Net Framework 1.1 SP1, BUT..............
before you do any of the above, you must
first check if you have the previous .Net Framework
update, if it is installed it must be removed before
any of the above updating:
In Add/Remove Programs, check the box to show updates and look
for update 886904 (That specific update ONLY).
If it is there, UNinstall it
Now install Rollup - 2, it should also *auto* install framework 1.1 and 1.1
SP1
REBOOT
And Once again visit Windows Update, there is another optional patch
that may need to be installed.

Thanks for your response.

I had to do a complete system restore on my computer to fix a different
problem that was occuring on my computer. Afterwards, I immediately tested
to see if I would get the same problems transfering video as before, and I
still am. So I am at a loss of what to do, because this suggests that WMP
was not corrupt (or it was corrput on the original install, which I cannot
change).

Please let me know what you think I should to do to fix this problem.

Thanks,

Alex

Are there user profiles configured on your PC?
Are you "owner"? Administrator rights?
Is your PC part of a network?
Are you using UPnP on PC and/or network? (Universal Plug and Play)
It could be a system resources issue?

IF YOUR PC IS ON A NETWORK - Try this:
Control Panel
Add/Remove programs
Then select "Add/Remove Windows Components"
locate and click "Networking Services"/"Details"
Place a tick in:
"Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client"
and.......
"UPnP user interface"
Now should be Highlighted any such devices in
"My Network"
Now you need their Windows components.
Close all windows
Start/RUN
Type: Services.MSC
In the dialog that appears it will list devices being hosted.
Double click each and ensure "StartUp" is NOT set to
"disabled" (prefrably "Automatic" or "Manual" if that is
the only option)

Have you found a solution to this problem yet?

I purchased a zen vision:m a couple of weeks ago and I have the exact
same issue. All works well exept syncing video through WMP.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I've been on the phone and through email with
creative and they've finally said that it's a problem with microsoft and they
will not support the issue any longer, so I guess that this newsgroup is my
last resouce.

Anyways, I've ran through those instructions that you've posted, and i still
get the error message.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Alex
