After downloading Explorer 8, my system always freez on
re-start with screen "preparing to install", then the system
crashes with "c000021a fatal system error" message. Using
Repair CD did not help. I can start on "safe mode" only and
run Explorer 7. Any help? Thank you

What OS are you using ? XP or Vista ?
Was IE 8 installed as an update ?
Few simple questions that might aid in resolving your problem....

Are you able to run system restore in safe mode and roll back to just before the IE8 upgrade?

Do you have an original XP Pro CD .? Not a repair one, or can you borrow one from somebody ? If you can you vcan do a repair install.
Also restart in safe mode and goto control panel, add remove programs, if you see anything that looks like IE 8 then delete it. See if that helps.
