Hi, when my windows 2000 starts, appears the blue screen with this error. I
tried to copy the files
and to do the solution at q173309 article, but It stills fail. What can I
do?. I make a new installation of Win2000 to try to repair it. Can I modify
the registry or something else to repair it?. Thanks.

the error is:

Stop: c0000135 {Unable to Locate DLL}
The dynamic link library winsrv.dll could not be found in the specified path
Default Load Path.

That article is for NT351/NT4 not W2K. But I suspect the
instructions for a parallel install and checking the integrity of the
registry hive file is still suitable for W2K.

It's not clear what parts of KB Article 173309 you completed. One
section calls for doing a parallel installation (NTFS) just to
replace or supply the file (if missing).

You will need to say in deatil what you have done and what the
results have been so far. The file system used. Whether (hopefully)
you have a recent full backup of the (damaged system's) registry that
you could use to restore the software registry hive file (if that is
in fact the problem). Have you been able to run CHKDSK from a
Recovery Console? Can you see the file is present from Recovery
Console? Also, what preceded the occurance of this problem? Do you
regularly maintain a "clean" and secure (no malware) system and keep
it patched? Did you do any registry modifications prior to the
problem? ...

It is not clear yet to me if anyone around here can help, but if you
supply enough information it may be so.

Additional: Have you seen KB 839517

"You may receive a "Stop: c0000135 {Unable to Locate DLL}" error
message when you install Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4"

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;839517

And does it apply to you?
