Well, i can't find anything that makes sense on this issue. Computer was
running fine and now this yellow pop up message comes up from time to time on
the task bar. It includes text to run chkdsk and it does each and every time
I reboot. I need to know how to fix this and nothing on MS to give
directions. Some webpost out there in the wild say that IE 7 is doing it and
it quits after uninstalling IE 7. I'm not into tempting fate with a clients
computer so how about some expert tech help on this one.

Is there a Norton ' product ' installed and was it actively monitoring
the system when IE7 was installed ? If yes, see this thread:

Sorry for the kryptic message....WinXP Pro SP3, IE7, AVG, No Norton
installed. This system was working fine then the pop ups started. I found a
post from back in 2005 that said the computers power supply may be causing
this issue, so still looking for answers.

If it's AVG 8, don't bet that wasn't the cause of the issue. There have
been numerous posts on AVG 8 wreaking havoc with updates.
Then again, we don't know if there are remnants of 'another' AV that
remained on the system after it was supposed to have been uninstalled.
Norton is *notorious* for doing just that.
