Can you please supply the error message exactly?

e.g. like this:
-----------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
----
If that one, try uninstalling the Google toolbar using Control
Panel-Add/Remove.

Ok, the exact error message is below

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

Any ideas and any assistance would be great.

Try any other added toolbar and report back if you have none.

This can also be caused by Common Name that could be installed by Kazaa:

I have only had new pc for 1 day. Am getting this runtime error. I have no
added toolbars. I did however get a Trojan 'generic.i' found by McAfee when
first setting up the puter. This was deleted. The only add-on are Microsoft ,
McAfee & Real.com & Sun Java extensions- I have disabled the latter 2.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
See if ToolbarCop: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm finds anything
that you didn't know was installed. Lookup unknown items at www.google.com
or another search engine before deleting anything.

Or, this might be a third-party program that isn't showing up as an add-on.
Run msconfig (Start> Run> msconfig) and from the Startup tab, uncheck
unnecessary third-party programs. See if you can find out which one is the
guilty party. Again... research via google so that you know what you're
disabling.

Please reply to this thread (topic) if unsuccessful in tracking down the
troublemaker.

Hope this helps,
Don

Pardon my butting in, but I have been experiencing the same problem for about
the last 48 hours. No common names added, no Google toolbar. Still getting
the error. However, if I don't respond to the error and just leave that
message box open, I can proceede without further interruption.
