Whenever I double click on the C: hard drive in "My Computer" icon it asks me
to choose my program to open my file !! it seems the original excutable file
was misplaced or lost to open my hard disk to view. But it works when I left
click my mouse on the Start menu and choose the word "Explore".

Could you tell me what is the file that makes the C: icon show me the
contents?

Right-click on the drive icon and choose "Open". Look for a file called
autorun.inf. If found, delete it.

If there is no autorun.inf file, then scan for viruses/malware.

Go to this web site and download the Drive Association fix. Extract the .reg
file from the Zip folder and run it.

Ado,
First I apologize for selecting Reply rather than Reply Group. I'm new to
using Outlook Express for newsgroups.

Step 1:
RtClk on Start button ?Properties ? Start Menu tab ? Start Menu radio button
? "Customize" button ? Advanced tab ?in the "Start menu items" section
scroll down to "My Computer" ? "Don't display this item" radio button ? OK
your way out.

Step 2:
Now delete ALL shortcuts to My Computer which are on your desktop.

Step 3:
Repeat Step 1 but this time select "Display as a Link"

Step 4:
Start ? rtclk on My Computer ? select "Show on Desktop"

You should now have a valid icon for "My Computer" on your desktop.

I've done that a few times, too!

If you would like to eliminate the possibility of doing that again in
the future, you may remove the Reply button by right-clicking on the
Toolbar and customizing it. HTH.

Daave,
Not a bad idea. I've started using Ctl+G now for group replies.
Thanks

Delete the hidden file named Autorun.inf from C:\ root.
