C# MSDE

I have written an app(in C#) which requires MSDE to be installed in Mixed
authentication mode.

I believe SQL mode will causes the username and password to be sent over the
network in plain text.

Can anyone tell me if there is anyway to ensure these details are encrypted
for security?
