Hey all I am running xp sp2, under My Computer the c: icon is the
icon which specifies that an icon for that object can't be found, as
though it's an unknown extension. Looks like a white page with a
window inside, i'm sure you know the kind. Other than that it works
just fine, any ideas what could be causing this? The other icons
including other drives under My Computer look just fine

Thanks for your help and time,
Michael

Click Start > Run > Type: CMD > Click OK
Run these commands one by one-

del /f /q /a c:\autorun.inf
set key=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
reg.exe delete "%key%\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C\DefaultIcon" /f

Good Luck, Ayush.

See if the file C:\Autorun.inf exists and delete that file when present.
Reboot when done.
