moves programs and adjusts registry

I am getting error messages to the effect that my 20GB
hard drive is full. The C: drive is nearly full but the
D: drive has almost 10 GB available.
Is there an easy way to move whole programs/files from C:
to D:? I tried this, and some programs became unusable.
I thought perhaps I should move my photograph program
(Kodak) and all my photo files and some other non-
essential applications to the D: drive. Are there things
I should be aware of before I try to do this? Can I move
a program without losing all the information I have added
(photos)?
Thanks in advance.
Lisa
