I have a 2000 Server SP4 that is running low on disk space. My problem is I
don't think it is reporting the usage correctly. In windows explorer if I
right-click the c:\ drive in the left pane and click properties it says there
is 3.54GB used. Now if I select all the folders and files in the right pane
and right-click and select properites it displays only 2.14GB used. I have
it set to show ALL folders and files. I also checked each folder under the
root of C:\ seperately and added up the usage and it comes to the 2.14GB.
Why is this different?? Are we actually running low on space??

Yes, you are running low on disk space and Windows
is reporting your disk use correctly. Run chkdsk.exe /F
to ensure that you have no lost clusters, then run either
of the programs below to see what's eating up your
disk space.

DriveUse:

It's normal for those two totals not to match. A casual search of
past postings indicates that some of the factors that can cause a
difference are file slack, NTFS file/folder compression, and (for XP)
System Restore Points. If it says you're low on disk space, you
really are.

Thanks guys, do either of you know of a good partiton extension program.
Hopefully I can find something that will let me extend the c:\ partition with
rebuilding windows.
