A screen appears for me to type my password before loading windows.
I don't use a password so I just press enter to get in.
How do I bypass this so the machine boots straight into Windows without
asking me for a password?

TIA

You can use tweakUI , download from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
look down the right hand column of the page for the link to download TweakUI

When installed, use TweakUI to choose 'autologon' in the 'logon' section.

Hey, thanks Jim.
But I'd prefer not to install that just to do the one little thing I want.
I know there is another way without installing third party stuff as I've
done it before
but have forgotten how.

Regards.
M.

Now we are reminded what it is called (autologon)
This should work:
