Hello all.
I am using CF cards with the RAM EWF.
I have purchased a few Sandisk CF cards and have 2 utilities from Sandisk to
make them appear as Basic (non-removable media). However Sandisk tells me
that not all the CF cards support this program. Sandisk is not all that
helpfull in giving the information that I need in order to get CF cards that
allow me to set them to non-removable.
How is everyone getting thier CF cards?
Are you able to order them already set up to be non-removable so that you
don't have to run the bloody dos program to change the card?

Thanks

David

We've always had ours from our supplier ready marked. We've used two
different ones, we're currently using Unigen, but the previous ones were
Transcend.

David

I believe the Industrial line of SanDisk compact flash cards are
compatible with the utilities. Not all of the retail cards are.

The bad news is they cost twice as much, the good news is they are quite
a bit faster.

Its strange. That is what the guy from Sandisk had lead me to believe.
However, the 4 that I have working, I got from Compusa.
All of them are 512MB cards.

I have a couple 256MB SanDisk retail cards I purchased earlier this
year, and they work fine. I recently purchased two more, and the utility
didn't work.

I've only tried one industrial card, but SanDisk tech support led me to
believe they will all work with the removeable config utility.

I have a 128MB Dane-Elec card that didn't work at all with XPe, but
Debian booted just fine from it.

I'll have to write a book if I ever figure this out...

Sandisk have come out with a new controller (used in at
least the consumer Ultra and UltraII disks). They call
it the Athens controller. There's a new version of their
utility, called ATCFWCHG.COM, which works with the new
controller.
