Looking for a laptop for school (battery life/light) and some light
gaming (team fortress 2). I've researched it, and found that I'd like
to prolly skip any intel 4500 GPUs. As they seem to suck when running
Linux.
I've found that the System76 Pangolin Performance is a nice laptop.
854$ price tag with:
Display: 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) or
15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050)
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 9300M GS 256MB DDR2
Audio Output: Intel High Definition Audio
Networking: Gigabit LAN (10/100/1000), WiFi
Wireless: 802.11 agn, Bluetooth
Expansion: Express Card 34/54 slot
Ports: VGA, HDMI, 3 x USB 2.0, eSata Port, Headphone Jack, Microphone
Jack, S/PDIF Output Jack, SD Reader
Camera: Built-In 2.0 MP Webcam
Security: Fingerprint Reader (beta),
Kensington® Lock
Power Management: Suspend & Hibernate
Battery: includes one 6 Cell Lithium Ion
AC Adapter: includes one AC adapter
Dimensions: 14.13" x 10.55" x 1.46" (WxDxH)
Weight: 5.8 lbs.
I'm looking for anything less than 950$ (prefer about 800$ price) but
the lower the better!
The main reason the system76 is appealing is the GeForce 9300 in it.
I've been thinking of just getting a nice netbook in the next few
months when they launch with a GeForce 9400 in them. By them Intel
should have a dual core Atom on the market, so it might be a fast 450$
netbook.
Just throwing that out there though, seeing what you think. I wanna
try and stick with something that's Intel so I can run OSX86 on it,
but I'll see what you all think.
Thanks,
