Is it possible to acquire IIS for Windows 2000 without
having to repurchase Windows altogether?

Background: I am using a student laptop bought through a
university. I am using a Windows image that they gave us
but their support won't allow me to add IIS (arrggh!).

IIS is installed as a component, thus its not necessary (or even available)
outside of Windows itself. You would need to be an administrator to install
it anyway. You also might need a copy of the Windows 2000 Pro CD if your
image didn't include it.

If you still can't install it, you don't need IIS if you just want to run a
website, just download Apache. Still need to be an admin though :-(
