I am running XP Home SP2 and when I click on a Java button to download a pdf
file nothing happens. I am running Norton AV and Zone Alarm Pro firewall.
This site was produced using Front Page 2000. If I use another computer with
what appears to be the same setup it works ok. What could cause a no response
like this? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Richard :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

PDF Files Troubleshooting problems opening PDF files in Internet Explorer
window:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/pdf.htm
Check the pdf.ocx file was not registered part:

also...

Don't know if this might apply, but, you can check it:

Zone Alarm Pro can block Images in IE

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low
2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low
3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

Hope this helps

I do know that I have JIT enabled in my settings but to be honest I really
don't know if I have a virtual machine installed. What would be the typical
scenerio if I do or if I don't. Is there a setting somewhere that I can
check? Thanks for your response.

Hi Jan Il,
I'll try these tonight when I get home. Thanks for your assistance. I'll let
you know if that does anything.

To get Sun's Java VM: http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp
For more information on MS's Java VM:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_9.htm#java - includes info on checking
your system to see if you have it, and download links and instructions on
getting the latest version.
