Removing the CMOS battery (which maintains BIOS memory)
for 1 minute will clear the BIOS password (and date/time and
everything else.)

You *opened* the computer and inside you actually found a password
floating around in mid-air? Next time take a deep breath before opening
the case to avoid any noxious fumes from the dead vermin within.

Assuming the case is padlocked (to prevent just any boob from clearing
the CMOS copy of the BIOS settings), you'll have to ask the actual owner
of the computer. They no longer want unauthorized users from using
their property.

Things you can do..

Ask the owner of the machine for the password..
Utilize the reset jumper inside the desktop case..
Take to an authorized repairer if it is a laptop..

First, this is not an OS issue. The BIOS password has been enabled, and
has to be cleared.

However, this isn't always easy. On some systems, you can unplug the power
cable, remove the CMOS battery, and short the BIOS RESET jumpers.

But on other systems, notably laptops, this won't work as the password is
stored in memory that doesn't rely on the battery, and the system has to be
taken to and worked on by an authorised service centre. It involves some
disassembly.

So, what to do is to check with the maker of your system for the correct
method of clearing the password.
