burning dvd's

having trouble burning DVD's using either Nero or DVD decripror. in most
cases I can read them on my computer but not on my DVD player. A couple
have worked which is unexplainable to me but most will only play on
computer.

Is it the type of file format or am I doing something wrong.

Also most times I cannot transfer the file into dvd decriptor for burning
even after it has been thru DVD shrink.

any help will be greatly appreciated.
