Burning DVD Problem

I am having difficulty burning anything onto a DVD - I wonder if
someone could perhaps offer a suggestion.

Until two days ago I had never burned a DVD, but had burned CDs many
many times. I have tried to burn DVD movies and then when that failed I
tried just plain data. Everytime the software (Sonic RecordNow, or
Ulead Movie Maker) says the burn has completed successfully, but when I
try to use the disc it just either appears blank or causes the computer
to freeze after appearing that it is going to work. (both times the
burn mark appears on the disc surface.

My drive is a DVD+/-RW and I'm using DVD+R discs, so I think that
should be OK?

I'm wondering if either a) the discs are in someway faulty, b) the
drive is in someway faulty, but as it reads commercial DVDs and reads
and burns CDs OK this is perhaps unlikely. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

What Sonic RecordNow, or Ulead Movie Maker version do you use..? Updated this
software lately..?

With the above InfoTool (older sample ver but still works though) you should
be able to see the media your drives support, etc..
Cheers

I actually managed to solve the problem by finding a later version of
the "firmware" from the manufacturer's website - if anyone else has
similar problems, I'd recommend trying this.

Thanks for your suggestions.
