I have made a movie in Movie Maker made up from photos and MP3 music. This
plays fine in Movie maker, but if I try to save it as a DV-AVI file (the file
type supported by "Click to DVD", the resulting video plays, but the
soundtrack is corrupted with clicks and distortions. Any Ideas?

MM doesn't work well with MP3's so I'd start by changing the music to wav
and see how that goes.
