Burning a CD with WMP10. Running Windows XP

Attempted to burn a CD from my playlist within WMP10 I am constantly getting
a write speed error. I adjusted the speed to the absolute lowest and still
get this error. Why on earth has Microsoft made burning CDs and DVDs so
complicated by using poor technology. The competition can't be that bad.
