Hi

I am new to this but I have Pinnacle Sytems Instant CD/DVD version 8.01
2003. When trying to burn a disc my computer crashed twice. Since then I
have tried again and get a runtime error just as it is about to burn the
disc. However I have looked for info on the Pinnacle site and it talks about
DirectrCD which is inbuilt in Windows XP and this could be the problem. The
only problem is I cannot find DirectCD in the Windows Task Manager to disable
it. Can you help please with some advice.

1. Go to Start > Run and type: SERVICES.MSC , and hit enter.
2. Scroll down to IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
3. Right-click on this service and select Properites.
4. Set the Startup type to Disabled.

Hi Carey

Many thanks for your reply. What exactly is DirectCD and how does it work?
Would I be better using that rather than the Pinnacle software?

Many thanks.

Windows XP has a native and basic CD recording program that may conflict
with third-party programs. It will only burn CDs and not DVDs.

Hi Carey

Many thanks again for your help. I did as you advised and found DirectCD
but itwas not running so now I have it running and will try Pinnacle again
to see if it will work. Obviously it was not DirectCD that was causing the
problem.

Thanks again.
