Burner problem with WindowsXP

I have been using WindowsXP to burn CDs successfully for a long time.

Recently the system does not work and I get a "System Error" when I try to
drop files into the CD icon in Windows explorer.

Yet when I use the Nero CD burner software, everything is OK.

Is there any way to fix the WindowsXP burning method, because I prefer its
simpler approach.

Please help, Frank

Hi,

You can use one or the other, but not both. Too many conflicts. If you
reenable the imapi burning service (the native program), then you must
disable Nero (and as it is far more functional, you may want to rethink
this).

Many thanks for this. But how does one enable/disable imapi & Nero.

Regards Frank

Hi,the imapi burning service is located in admin tools> services, right click on it and select properties. I also use Nero and have imapi set to manual with no problems.

Hi Frank,

Start/run msconfig.

Nero you will find on the startup tab.
Imapi burning is on the services tab.

For two different methods to turn off the Microsoft Windows XP
CD writing feature see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base
article.
