Have you checked interface and power cables for less-than-pleasant
connections?
IIRC this error occurs when a device is not marked safe for sudden removal
and is then "removed". When I say it is "removed" I mean it is "seen" as
removed by the PNP manager. This could be caused by a number of things.
I would first check out connections (e.g. try swapping onto a different IDE
cable). If it still persists, perhaps the drive is not operating
correctly...or even the mother-board could have a failure. Try to eliminate
some possibilities and don't assume it's a software issue (I'm not saying
you're assuming that
