L.S.,

I've just updated my computer at home form windows 98 to
Windows XP. Now I would like to update windows XP. VBut at
home I have a 56k internetconnection, while at the
university 10/110MB. I would like to download the patches
updates ect. to the hard drive so I can put them on a USB
stick or burn them on CD (depends on the size) so I can
update my computer at home. How can I do that?

Thanks a lot, Koos

Koos,

I would recommend starting with the SP1 installation for Windows XP. You
can download SP1a from the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/p...sp1/default.as
p
Choose the "Network installation"
Make sure you select the proper language if you have Windows XP in Dutch
and download it to you local drive. From there you should be able to copy
it to whatever medium you prefer and install it at your home system.

For the other critical updates I recommend getting them from the Windows
Update site, since you may not need all updates, depending on your
configuration and software installed.

Hope this helps.

At home, go to the Windows Update site, run a scan and note which
patches and updates are relevant to your PC. At University, use the
catalogue site,

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

to download the relevant patches and save them to take home.
