bullet feature crashes winword.exe

      31st Dec 2007
when in outlook 2003 creating/editing an email message, try to place a bullet
using the bullet feature and the mail message closes. this is found in event
log:

microsoft send/don't send error report doesn't come up. this has happened
in word.

tried to run repair on office, detect and repair in outlook, updated office.
nothing seems to be fixing this problem. need some help locating a solution
if anyone has anything. I can't seem to find much of anything out on the net.

Is the latest Service Pack installed?
I'd try in Word support group and see if the issue is known there.

Yes, latest everything for office and XP is installed.

is this fixed.
I found the cause to be the default template "normal.dot" file in user
profile.
I posted another post about default template outlook files.

It is, I posted the same topic in the word forum. There are a couple steps
there that I've tried. I found in outlook, the default bullet was defaulting
to a ? symbol which obviously was causing the crash. When I reverted the
default back to a normal symbol that is used, it started working perfectly.
