Lastnight, I cleaned out OE ( I use it to post here) and both my http://
based webmail accounts I have - to include their bulk folders. This morning
I get up and there were already 48 items in my ISP Bulk folder w/
attachments all 180K in size from some trojan bot named Bhu** something or
other. ** indicates a range between a and z, 0 thru 9.

Since I notice alot of you use bogus reply to email lines in the headers of
your posts, and I'd love to know how you do this -- and two...if this is an
effective solution to deal with chitloads of Spam I seem to get.

OE: Tools > Accounts > News
Select your news account
Click Properties
Change the email ID to:

(E-Mail Removed)lid

Click OK, Click Close

The domain "example" is reserved for .. well .. examples. The TLD (Top
Level Domain) "invalid" is used to prevent all conforming mail servers
to not bother to even try to send an email.

Since your ID is already harvested, it is toast. Get yourself a new one,
not easily guessable, and guard it with your life.

Sidebar:
Q: "Why does my PC run so slow when I connect to the interweb?"
A1: "Because it is relaying hundreds of spam emails every minute."
A2: "Because it is sending virus-laden emails to everyone in your
address book."

Yes, pretty much so.

Sidenote: why is it whenever I post the suggestion to use the munged
domain name "example" in the literal sense, almost everyone uses
something else? Like "html". The domains example.com/net/org have been
set aside to use for these kinds of functions.

"html.com" and .net and .org are all owned by somebody. Each time
someone uses a valid name (even with an invalid TLD) the chances are
increased that a spammer will use the domain and suffix it with all
known TLDs.

Change it to: (E-Mail Removed)lid <-- exactly like this

Please consider not top-posting on Usenet.

OK, Dad!! Sheesh!! And I considered not top-posting which I vastly
prefer over this. But I will stay with my usual style. I am too old to
change now. (G)

Ok, changed. Although I have an idea already of what it is . . . could you
define Top posting? would you mean starting with a new post?

Top-posting is .. posting up here at the top .. instead of down there
below the quoted text (like that which I haven't completely trimmed for
example). Read on, though.

...and posting down here is the preferred method, after trimming
non-relevant parts (including signatures below the "-- " line.

The preferred method IS top-posting on most of the Microsoft ng's.....so
there is no hard and fast rule......

See comment at the end.....known as "bottom-posting".....(sounds a bit
rude, actually....lol)
