I want to assign a dollar value to the text cells in the drop down menu
I inserted into my spreadsheet. Each drop down selection will have a
corresponding $ amount so the final price formula can be automatically
calculated.

Hardwood floors = $5.00
Carpet = $2.00

I've tried to find the info on-line but I'm a little lost. Sorry if
this is a simple question.

Hi by using a simple drop down box, you can do this.
step 1: right click on drop down box, choose format control
step 2: click on CONTROL
step 3: Define Input range
step 4: Cell link (this is flag indicator)

Please refer to sample spreadsheet that attached with your example

Thanks
