hello
my Vista home Premium SP2 32 bit
(oh Update Success on both my computers)
Acer Aspire 5535
came with a build in Acer Crystal Eye Webcam
I use messenger with my build in webcam
and my contacts use messenger and Skype
we are able so see the images in both but no sound
my controls show all is fine but something don't work
(may be at other end)
is there a compatibility issue here perhaps ?(Windows XP service pack 2)
Can I download the free Skype software and apply it to this build in webcam
or will this only work with the program it came with ?
thank
no rush
fritz

Even when there is a microphone built into a webcam the audio source
settings are separate from the video settings in both Windows and your IM
programs. For example my computer has 9 possible audio input sources that
could be used -- front mic, rear mic, webcam USB mic, rear line-in, 2x front
line-in, digital in, CD Audio, or Stereo Mix. Make sure that the microphone
input you want to use is selected as the default audio source in your IM
programs and at least enabled (not muted) if not set as the default audio
input(Recording) source in Windows. On some laptops the built in microphone
can easily be blocked when using the keyboard or touchpad so that's also
something to watch out for.

The same issues apply for Skype as any other messaging program. To hear
sounds you also have to enable your speakers and adjust the volume levels
(open the Mixer).

thank you
there is much to look at not enough time today
the Speakers are checked in green as working (playback)
Microphone checked green and working (Recording)
Volume Mixer;
Speaker ON ( Realtek High Definition Audio)
Windows Sounds ON
HD Audio Control Panel ON

in the
Acer HD Audio Manager
Speakers and Microphone are BLOCKED, NOT ON

there is something I need to fix first here I thing
the Acer HD Audio Manager window does not display proper
the MAX Window BUTTON does NOT respond
nor can I Re size Window with mouse

I Register my Computer today With ACER perhaps the have some updates later
(Windows is registered from day one)
Is there perhaps some program in here that may fix thinks
(My Emachine Home basic desktop had Big fix don't know if it ever fixed
anything)

I ll keep trouble shooting tomorow
thanks
