I used Synctoy to allow me to download photos, statements of any kind to my
thumbdrive while I travel, then insert these new documents into the right
location in my folder tree structure when I get home.
I keep a (mostly empty of documents) copy of my full folder tree structure
on my thumbdrive, so that when I get a new document, I can save it into a
familiar location in my folder tree structure, then when I run synctoy at
home in "contribute" mode, these new files get copied over and added to my
home computer in exactly the right place. Works great most of the time and
means I avoid handling these new files more than once.
I am running into trouble however, whenever I rename files on my home
computer. After I have done this, Synctoy thinks that some of the few old
files remaining on my thumbdrive are suddenly new files, and wants to
overwrite my home-computer renames. I guess one way around this might be to
completely delete every file from the thumbdrive, but leaving a few files
there makes things easier in terms of identifying the last statement I have
downloaded, or allows me to copy filenames as templates for new file names.
Am I using the wrong synctoy action for this sort of operation, or does
anybody do this sort of operation in a different way that works better??
