Using phpBB, Version 3, I am planning a multimedial webforum where, as
file attachments, not only pictures, documents etc., but also music and
video file may be uploaded.

Recently I found that Windows XP no longer plays the embedded videos.

The reason may be that I have upgraded from Media Player 10 to 11,
and from Internet Explorer 6 to 7.

As I dom't know how to downgrade, at present time I can not test out, in
which of the two programs - or in both - the bug is.

At city library in my town, where there is still IE 6 and MP 10,
the videos are still played.

The problem is more than likely to be in MP11. There are
some other issues in MP11 as well (database corruption,
thumbnailing in explorer). Also do a dedicated search in the
properties of IE7 (settings). Look for any settings that
would disallow the embedded videos. Advanced site settings
on the 2nd tab (zones) may offer some help.
