Is this a bug: Intead of custom icon location, custom web pageshortcuts in Favoroites > Properties > Change icon... > always show %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll

This only happens if you upgrade form Internet Explorer 6 to IE7 or
IE8:

When you right click on an internet link shortcut > Properties >
Change icon...
you can set custom icons for links in your Internet Explorer Favorites
folder.

After you do that, why does clicking on Change icon... always show
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll

instead of the location of your custom icons for your Internet
Explorer Favorites links?

This behavior started happening with IE 7. If you check on IE 6 on old
systems, it still correctly shows the actual custom icon location, but
not IE7 or IE8, is this a bug?

Here is a a picture of what I am talking about:

This is about custom icons stored locally on your system - not default
icons for all internet links in your IE Favorites folder.

I donīt exactly have a cure for your problem, but you can always locate
your custom icons by opening the URL files in your Favorites folder with
Notepad. It would look something like this:

[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://someserver.com
IconFile=C:\Program Files\Favorite Icons\some.ico
IconIndex=0

(Assuming that your Favorites are stored on your C:\ drive)
