Buffer Overrun Detected!

I am running Windows 2000 with SP4

I have computers that once started... trying to access
any program from Internet Explorer to My Computer comes up
with an error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Buffer overrun detected!

Program: C:\winnt\explorer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the
program's internal state. This program cannot safely
continue execution and must now be terminated.

Any advice would be appreciated...
