BTX platform take-up?

Anyone have any insights on the prospects for the BTX platform?

PCI-express bus and SATA disk interface look like making it, because
they offer better functionality and reduced mfg costs. But what about
the BTX form factor platform design? [i.e. motherboard and case]

Apart from Dell, who seem to always pioneer new Intel stuff, I can't
see much BTX product coming through. The primary justification for
BTX was better heat management, but given Intel's move away from the
GHz race, that is less of an issue and thus BTX lacks a business
justification AFAICT.

Is BTX going to 'stick' and become the new standard?

I just put together a system a few days ago. Acually I first put it together
a couple of weeks ago but the Intel m/b fried after a few seconds.
Apparently there's a problem with the way the board mounts to the case and
long solder leads. It took a couple of weeks to get a warranty replacement.
So far it's working as advertised except the CPU fan is louder than I
expected. The form factor is nice. I can see the case manufacturers coming
up with some different designs. Maybe computers really will end up in the
entertainment cabinet along with the TV and stereo. Don't know yet if BX
will do it but it's a step in the right direction. For such a small, crowded
case it really does stay relatively cool inside, at least according to the
Intel monitoring software :-)
