Did your ISP supply a CD with the router? If they did, you need to insert
this disk into your machine and follow the instructions. Please note that you
should only connect your router to your machine and the Internet when told to
do so. If you weren't supplied with a CD, then there should be some
information that you will need to enter manually into your router. If this is
the case, connect your router to your machine, but not to the Internet, and
enter the router's configuration routine (the information for doing so is
usually on a label underneath the router). Follow the instructions carefully.
Either way, whether entered manually or automatically from the CD, you should
have an option on the router to save the configuration data as a file on your
computer (suggested filename 'RouterConfigData1'). I strongly recommend that
you do this (and also save it to a removeable drive) so that you can easily
restore this data should you need to do so. Next, connect your router to the
Internet. Note that you may need to reboot the router - this can be done by
simply powering down the router, waiting 1/2 a minute, and powering it back
up. With a bit of luck, you should now be able to access the Internet. Please
note that for setting up purposes, your router should be connected directly
to your machine via Ethernet. Once you have got it working correctly, you can
then set it up for wireless operation if you so choose (remember to save the
configuration data as a file as mentioned above - I suggest the filename
'RouterConfigData2').
