My Windows XP SP2 computer BSODs to an udsreadr_xp.sys error if I have my
computer on but walk away from it. I have run windows updates, ran Adaware,
disabled my Norton autoprotect, in an effort to troubleshoot.

If I leave media player running all day it doesn't happen.

Can anyone assist me?

Please tell us the number code [begins with STOP 0x000...] and name of
the error [looks LIKE_THIS] and how you determined that the error is
caused by udsreadr_xp.sys. Could you be referring to UdfReadr_xp.sys
that belongs to Roxio software?

An actual copy of the Stop Error Report would help.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

What Roxio software do you have on the computer. If it was installed but
has since been removed please say.

Does the error ever occur when you boot or is it always after the boot
process has completed?

Hope this helps.

This appears to be a file for Roxio's DirectCD / Drag to CD, a module
within several versions of Roxio's Easy CD (Media) Creator software.
You might want to access the Easy CD (Media) Creator software
configuration and uninstall the DirectCD / Drag to Disk module.

It doesnt' happen on boot, just when you leave the system alone with no
activity. screen saver is disabled. If media player is playing it doesn't
happen

Also search the Microsoft Knowledgebase using:
