Just helped a friend set up and plug in a new Dell machine (can't remember
the exact spec right now, but I'll get it if it's important) and it's
running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and all the updates.

Almost from new it's been crashing with STOP errors, the major one I've
appended at the end of the post. Would someone with far more understanding
of these things than me please let me know what I might suggest to my very
untechnical friend to get this sorted before we give up and return it to
Dell? We're anxious to avoid this until all other options have been
exhausted.

Many and grovelling thanks.

It is possible Dell Tech Support will fix with Online Chat session or send
repair Technician to him. Sounds like you should be person for chat session.

Without Tech Support, you could do more damage that good.
