Hi,

trying to install Player 101 downloaded from VMWARE website, I get an BSOD
with STOP error 0x000000D1, and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message

I have to reboot.

Then it is :
- impossible to complete Player install ( relaunching installl complains
that already installed and I have to remove firts)
- impossible to remove : no entry in the Add/Remove programs control panel

Have manually deleted all reg and drive VMWare things in safe mode,
including services and tried reinstall. Same !

Problem appears when install displays something about VMNet1 ( more I can
not say : BSOD immediately follows)

What can I do ?

XP SP2 otherwise OK with Kaspersky AV & ZoneAlarm. No change if I do unload
them.

Have tried install whithout ZoneAlarm launched, nor Kaspersky Antivirus ,
but no change

Haven't yet tried if Workstation would install, because so difficlut to
delete all VMWare things when it goes wrong !

Haven't yet got informative help from VMWare forums

Perhaps someone here recognizes where that BSOD error message points to ??

TIA !!!

No VMWare people, but other forum "insiders"
They suggested uninstalling Kaspersky antivirus and ZoneAlarm, reboot,
install VMWare player then reinstall KAV & ZA.

I find it a bad solution to have to uninstall security software to be able
to install other software.
And I have had to do a lot of settings to have ZA & KAV behave as needed
with software and secured web accesses, and do not want to have to redo all
of these.

No other info about why the BSOD, what the code could mean etc

I do not intend to unprotect my PC to install whatever program on it. So
either there is another way or I will try something else ( Virtual PC from
MS ?) or wait till it installs without trouble.

Do you have ideas ?
