STOP: 0X000000C2

I was repeatedly getting a BSOD 0XC0000008E. I hadn't installed any software or hardware. Eventually I found the Microsoft article "How to Troubleshoot Hardware and Software Driver Problems in Windows XP" ( http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=322205 ). As suggested, I tried repairing the Windows XP installation. It crashed during installation with a BSOD error BAD_POOL_ERROR. Now I can't do anything because it is looping in Windows setup: "restarting setup", BAD_POOL_ERROR. Can't do any of the F8 options; insists on setup disk.

Anybody have any clues? I'll do anything before I get to re-formatting the hard drive.
