BSOD added wireless NIC to Windows XP

I just bought a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP. Everything is
great until I add a D-Link DWL-520+ wireless card. Once I do, I get a
BSOD DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I know what you're thinking --
it's a simple IRQ conflict. Well, I tried the card in all available
PCI slots. Each gave me a different IRQ (none in conflict) and I
still get the error. D-Link basically gave up and told me to contact
Dell. Dell also gave up and figured the card was not compatible and I
should purchase one from them. Well, they list the same D-Link card
on their site as being compatable. I am using a D-Link DI-614+
router. Any ideas would be REALLY appreciated because I am about to
lose my mind!

Thanks for posting, Barb. You're idea sounded really good.
Unfortunately, it did not work. Do you have any other ideas? Do I
have to mess with the Wireless Zero Configuration? D-Link mentions
disabling that. One more note that may help... I have used this card
successfully in the past on a Win 98SE machine, so I think the card is
okay.

Please don't delete portions of the thread when you reply.

The problem with the + devices is that they are using a non approved
proprietary standard and you need to disable built in WZC to use the non
standard + faster speed modes. I'm suggesting that you use WZC to see if the
issue is with the utility itself. Then try with no drivers and see if the
machine complains with just the hardware.

If you get the driver error even without any drivers installed, you probably
need to go over to the hardware groups to get some assistance.

The explanation of the + devices makes sense. I didn't know it was
proprietary to D-Link. One thing I tried is I removed the NetBEUI
protocol. I know XP doesn't really support it, but I loaded it
manually from the install CD so I could network my XP machine and my
old 98 machine. So far I have not had any more problems, but we'll
see... Is there any other way I can network XP and 98 without NetBEUI?

The TCP/IP protocol can be used to network XP and 98 machines.
The + 22 mbps is a Texas Instruments developed proprietary extension to
80-2.11b - DLink, USR and a couple of others offer + gear. (it's not just
DLink)
