I am unable to browse using any Internet browser. However, I can browse if I
open up Windows Explorer and go to any site in my bookmarks. Email through
Outlook works fine. I installed Firefox and Opera and cannot browse with
either of them. I have run every legitimate spyware program I could find. I
know there has to be a registry setting somewhere that is causing this, but
I just cant figure out which one. Any ideas?

Well, what happens when you /try/ to browse using IE? What version of IE
are you running?

I had a similar problem when running win 98 SE, that running scanreg/restore
took care of.

Would it be advisable for him to try system restore?
Thanks, Tony

Try running every virus scanner you can find.

I have run IE6 and IE7 and FireFox 2.0.0.10. I dont think its browser
related, because I can ping sites and use Outlook. I have tried a variety of
anti virus and spyware utilities.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking ports 80 or 443.
What firewall are you using?
What other security programs?
