Hello
We have 2 networks here we use a Cisco L3 switch to route between them
but when I browse I olny see devices on "my" network not the other one I
can ping all thsoe other servers ijust cant browse when mapping a drive or
looking in My Netowork Places--> Entier Network

is this just the way it is or should you be able to see any thing you can
getto via the router ?

Unless you use WINS servers in each location, replicating with each other
you can't browse across subnets. NetBIOS traffic isn't routable.

Hi LW,

I have a Desktop and laptop here at my desk....the laptop in on my 30
network and the desktop in on my 50 network..... to my surprise I find the
laptop see all devices in the domin and the desktop only see the devices on
the 50 network....we dont use WINS

I have 2 domain controllers the newer one (just promoted) is running server
2003
and the old legacy one runs Server 2000 the new one has a 50 address and
the older one is MULTIHOMED 1 nic = 30 the other = 50 I know I know
everyone hates multihoming

still really wierd that both my units browse differently

Yes, it's a bad practice.

Post an unedited ipconfig /all from your laptop & from a desktop.

When you say browse, do you mean Network Places?
