Browsing in "Acess Denied" Folder

      7th Jan 2006
i had windows mulfunction so i connected the HD drive to my second PC. but i
am unable to browse "Documents and Settings\Mike" folder - it says "Access is
denied".

please, can any1 tell me how can i get into that folder i have very
important stuff there.

i think that its because the user (Mike) was password-protected. i know the
password but the problem is that when i double-click the folder in the
explorer it doesn't ask me for password, it just says "Access is Denied".

You need to take ownership of the files and folders. In start | run
type ownership in the search box or see this link:

I read and followed the link. Step 2. click on security tab. I don't have a
security tab. I am using XP home. Please help.

forget following that link. all you have to do is click tools in any
folder and then click options and then go to the view tab. then take the
check out of the use simple file sharing.

forget following that link. all you have to do is click tools in any
folder and then click options and then go to the view tab. then take the
check out of the use simple file sharing.

Not trying to be rude Malke, but i find just telling the OP how to solve
the problem better than making them follow a link to do it.

Not to be rude, Derik but your solution will not work in XP Home which
is what the OP has.
