You're correct. The "/i" option not required for oleaut32.dll.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried each and every
one of the recommendations given in this post and in the
Knowledge Base article, to no effect. The only thing of
interest is that when I run Regsvr32 /i oleaut32.dll, I
get this message:
"oleaut32.dll was loaded, but the DllInstall entry point
was not found.
DllInstall may not be exported, or a corrupt version of
oleaut32.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to
detect and remove it."
I have no idea how to use PView, though I suspect it's
just that the /i switch shouldn't have been included.
