A couple of days ago I had two IE6 windows open (I right clicked on a link
and selected 'open in new window'). I resized the new open window to make
it around 1/2 the size of my screen area. Now whenever I 'open in new
window' the window always opens in the 1/2 screen size, no matter how much I
resize it, close it down. reopen it.

If I just open IE6 on it's own there's no problem, only when I open a link
in a new window.

Is there a way to reset this window size.

Try stretching the small window to full size. (Do not use Maximize)
Ensure that window is the last one closed and IE should remember the
size next time.
