Hello,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

My mother-in-law has a new E-Machine with XP and IE. Whenever she goes
to get her webmail (or any page with a user name/password) the browser
stops and says "Done" in the lower left hand corner. I ran Norton and
it came up with a BloodHound virus but that did not seem related to
the problem. Every now and then a black DOS box comes up for a second
and then a browser window opens with the path to her user settings.

She has a dial-up connection so I have to still copy the latest virus
def file from norton to a CDR and bring it over to her place to run
the current file against her computer. But does the problem she is
having with the browser shutting down sound like it is virus-related?

Thanks, please post any ideas to the newsgroup.

I'm not a professional, but it sounds like she may have some MALWARE issues.
Download Lavasoft's Adaware v6.0 from http://www.lavasoftusa.com and run it
with the default settings. I'm sure that you'll pick up a MALWARE or
something that needs quarantined. After running, you'll need to delete the
quarantined files.
