Hello. I have been trying to figure out what might be the problem with my
internet explorer and or networking setup.
I have a DSL connection at a good 1.5MBits throughput, and running through a
router onto two separate computers - both running XP up-to-date.. On the one
computer the internet flow is seamless, while on this computer my browser
will freeze up at any given time it seems like for a minute or so. Also when
clicking on a link such as in an e-mail (like as an example
www.microsoft.com), every time no matter what the link is too - the e-mail
program will freeze for a moment and the internet explorer it was trying to
open the page up onto will freeze. Then after a minute or so they will
suddenly both unfreeze and continue to work normally.
On my computer, I am just using a new D-Link network/ethernet adapter card
with the D-Link Broadband Router. I am not sure what the other computer is
using, but it is just an old standard ethernet adapter too.
Looking through some old information scattered about on the web I found
about trying to setup a dummy IP will correct this problem, but that
solution doesn't work with a router. Which it seems like to me that when the
freeze occurs, maybe my computer is looking in the wrong location or
something for the internet access? I am not sure where to go from here and
Verizon DSL techs did not have much to say other than it is my issue and
that was that.
Anyone have any thoughts on the above before I lose my mind??
Thanks for any help and suggestions!
